Erin Hauber leads the Human-Centered Design Practice at USAA. She and her team are developing and delivering programs and services to scale the learning, practice and adoption of human-centered design and design thinking to more than 30,000 employees at the financial services enterprise. She is passionate about scaling design and innovation culture and practices in enterprises; making design and design thinking knowable and actionable by diverse teams.
Prior to USAA, Erin led similar efforts at two global technology businesses Atlassian and IBM. At IBM, she and her award-winning team applied a human-centered approach to designing curricula, education programs and services, and toolkits for hundreds of new designers hired out of universities, and thousands of IBM executives and software development team members each year. In the recent years, Erin has presented on the intersection of design education and the tech industry on numerous occasions including at: the AIGA Educator’s Conference, appeared on a panel about education and tech industry partnerships at IxDA15, delivered a SXSW Edu Workshop and given dozens of workshops to diverse audiences in education and business. She was an Assistant Professor of Design at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and visiting faculty at North Carolina State University. In addition, her work has been recognized by Forrester, Core 77, Print Magazine, How Interactive, Graphis, and NC State.
